Animal Crossing Museum Becomes Official Book

A new encyclopedia based on Animal Crossing’s iconic museum will soon be available in Japan, featuring facts about all of the game’s exhibits.

It has been announced that an official book based on Animal Crossing: New Horizons museum will soon be on the shelves. The in-game institution is currently hosting a stamp rally in honor of International Museum Day, which offers special plaques as rewards for completing stamp cards. A chance to learn more about the creatures in the museum could be a fun treat for players.

The museum, run by the bug-fearing Blathers, has always been an important part of animal crossing. It’s here that players deliver collected fish, fossils, bugs, and artwork, allowing the Blathers to gradually create a grand display of everything the New Horizons world has to offer. In New Horizons, the player’s thriving collection of wildlife is what first drew the Blathers to the island, leading to a new museum being built from scratch. Blather’s position and dedication to educating villagers about the natural world helped make him one of the animal crossingthe most recognizable characters. His workplace has even helped kids learn about real-life museums during the Covid-19 pandemic.

To further extend the educational benefits of the museum, VGC reports that an encyclopedia based on the coins found in New Horizons will be released in Japan later this year. Presented as an educational guide to the world of animal crossing, it will feature 235 different species. However, the information for each entry seems to be limited to “a little infographic” instead of a more detailed description. Despite this, available screenshots show that the book covers everything from modern sea life to dinosaurs and even appears to feature a rudimentary tree of life. With the game’s popularity begins to slow due to a lack of freshness New Horizons content, tie-in merchandise like this will likely delight fans until the next installment in the franchise.

The new encyclopedia is slated for release on July 29 and will come with a DVD containing approximately 57 minutes of material. Unfortunately for international fans, there is no English translation word at this time. However, there is a good chance that the book will eventually receive an English version, because New Horizons maintained a large Western following.
