Barnes County Lecture Series; Cannabis 101 November 17

VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) – Season 22 of the Barnes County Historical Society Lecture Series features: Gail Pederson, “Cannabis: Hemp, Marijuana and More,” Thursday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. at the County Museum of Barnes. (315 Central Ave N. Valley City, ND)

The use of cannabis for fiber, oil and medicine has been documented around the world since ancient times. The history of cannabis use in the United States has gone from service in wars, contributions to the economy and medicine to illegality and back again. The presentation will include current uses of hemp as an industrial product. A discussion of CBD and THC medicinal products with advice on how to find a quality product will be given.

Gail Pederson is a Holistic Nursing Specialist and Cannabis Nurse Educator/Consultant. She has extensive training in cannabis therapeutics and has an accredited Cannabis 101: “What Healthcare Professionals Need to Know” program. She has been active in the ND State Legislature since medical cannabis was passed by ND, receiving the ND Legendary Nurse Award in 2019 for this contribution and to the nursing profession. She currently serves on the Public Policy and Advocacy Committee of the American Cannabis Nurses Association.

All lectures are held at the Barnes County Historical Society Museum and are held in conjunction with Valley City State University. They are free and open to the public.
