Bottega Veneta has turned The Strand into a book lover’s dream diner

Nothing says “I read books” like a tote bag from The Strand.

Nothing says “I read books and I’m rich” much like Bottega Veneta’s new take on a tote bag from the Strand.

Thanks to newly appointed creative director Matthieu Blazy’s love of the iconic New York bookstore, the Italian brand has given the cult accessory a luxurious upgrade with three versions bound in leather, featuring the Strand’s signature red and white logo. With prices ranging from $1,900 to $3,800, they’re a bit more expensive than the average tote bag worn by NYU students and downtown hipsters, but they’ll definitely make you look like an ultra member. chic of the wealthy intelligentsia.

To celebrate the launch of the cheeky and cool collection, Bottega Veneta has taken over The Strand’s famous “18 miles of books” for an after-hours dinner that can only be described as a book lover’s dream.

Produced by KCD Creative Group, the evening featured an extra-long banquet table stretched along the piers, perfectly appointed with mood lighting, Murano glass vases and fiery flowers by Eriko Nagata of EriN Design. In the heart of the bookstore, guests joining the brand for the intimate party were treated to plates of Ai Fiori and hours of lively conversation.
