Diri, Ortom, Sylva, others for GbaramatuVoice 7th Anniversary Conference, awards – The Sun Nigeria

Governors of Bayelsa, Douye Diri and Benue, Samuel Ortom, as well as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, are among the dignitaries expected at the 7th Anniversary Conference/Niger Delta Awards 2022, scheduled for August 30 in Abuja .

According to a statement from Publisher/CEO, Jacob Abai, the anniversary celebration/conference which has as its central theme: “Oil Policy, Securing National Assets, Dependency and Diversification”, has Sylva as the keynote speaker while Bayelsa Governors and Benue along with Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Mele Kyari, are the guests of honour.

The Social Democratic Party 2023, SDP presidential candidate Prince Adewole Adebayo will chair the event, while Delta State Deputy Governor Kingsley Otuaro will be the main host.

Others expected include: Acting Director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr Efiong Akwa, Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Simbi Wabote, Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Commission Upstream Regulatory Authority (NUPRC), Gbenga Komolafe, and Chairman/CEO, Chevron Nigeria Limited, Richard Kennedy.

Also expected at the conference/award ceremony are traditional rulers from the Niger Delta, captains of industries inside and outside the country, leaders of International Petroleum Companies (IOCs) operating in the country , public office holders from the Niger Delta region, leaders of specialized groups in Nigeria, among others.

According to Abai, “The anniversary conference will focus on critical new research themes as sustainable development goals in the Niger Delta. Its deliberations will cover all spectrums of analysis, including the oil and gas industry.

“This edition is the 7th in the series and the second to be hosted at the Abuja Transcorp Hilton, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The first was held in 2015. Other venues that have hosted this prestigious event in the past are; Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt, Rivers States, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos respectively.

“The annual GbaramotuVoice conference has a rich history of promoting national unity, recognizing the good works of various people who have positively stamped their names in various fields of human endeavours, while contributing to the life chances of mankind.”

He explained that GbaramatuVoice, established in 2015, has grown into a global multimedia organization with newspapers, websites and apps serving millions of readers around the world as an important media outlet in the Niger Delta. The newspaper takes on an even greater responsibility as it continues its quest to serve as a bridge between the communities of the Niger Delta and the rest of the world.

He said the list of eminent laureates comprised of Nigerians and non-Nigerians from different sectors of human endeavors through a rigorous yet transparent process will be made known to the general public in due course.
