“Home” follows the story of a young man brought back from an unknown clinic. Still groggy from his deep sleep, the boy sees a giant scorpion on the roof. He was surprised to meet a woman with a blue beehive. The woman greeted him, but he was unsure of their relationship, or sure he was resting at his family home. Is she his mother? The young narrator, confused about his surreal surroundings, becomes even more confused as the woman begins to give him a regimen of pills that sinks his already confused mind even deeper into the strangeness. Another character that adds to his slippage is his vision of a woman writing in the house next door. Does she tell the story? Where does this strange story end? Who is actually telling the story? It’s up to the reader to decide. The end of the book will leave its readers wanting more.

In “Home”, Katzman brilliantly delights his readers through the use of an unreliable narrator. The changing points of view in the book amplify the author’s technique. Despite its confusing and bizarre plot, the book will send its readers into a fantasy world filled with a witty combination of meta-mystery and suspense. Katzman’s poetic and transcendent words are enough to secure her a place on every book lover’s bucket list.
