Padma Shri Dr Harmohinder Singh Bedi delivers a lecture at BBK DAV, Amritsar : The Tribune India

Amritsar: BBK DAV College for Women organized a Ved Prachar Saptah week where Padma Shri Dr. Harmohinder Singh Bedi, Chancellor of Central University of Himachal Pradesh delivered a special lecture. Dr. HS Bedi in his address said that the history of freedom struggle cannot be written without the contribution of Arya Samaj adding that one cannot understand the Swadeshi movement without understanding Arya Samaj. Speaking about the contribution of Swami Dayanand Saraswati, Dr. Bedi called him a great reformer, who worked for the upliftment of women and the oppressed. He shed light on the story of Gurukul Kangri, which was started by Swami Shradhanand, and also elaborated on the great freedom fighter, Bhagat Singh, who was a disciple of Arya Samaj.

Spring Dale girl top of class XII

Sirjan Preet Kaur, a student at Spring Dale School, became the top in the district with 99.2% marks in the revised CBSE Class XII result, after a reassessment. To top off the outstanding academic achievement of Spring Dale Senior School, Amritsar, Sirjan scored one hundred percent in four out of five major subjects. The school principal, Rajiv Kumar Sharma, congratulated the student.

Sahit Utsav at Goodwill International School

The Book Readers Club of Goodwill International School has organized a Literature Utsav 2022 dedicated to the famous Punjabi poet Surjit Paatar. The objective was to identify and develop the artistic and creative talent of the students. Inter-house poetry, short story writing and folk song competitions were held for primary and secondary school classes. These students also presented their impressions and views on the books and journals recently read by them. An exhibition of artistic and literary objects such as paintings, poems, tales and folk songs written by the students, was also organized on the occasion. A reading corner was the main attraction of the utsav. Principal Jasbinder Kaur praised the students and teachers for this creative program.

Fertilizer Orientation Course

The Department of Agriculture, established under the Agricultural Research and Innovation Center, organized a one-day orientation course on fertilizers in association with the Fertilizer Association of India (FAI). The objective of the orientation was to educate the students on the different areas of the agricultural sector, logistics and marketing, ways to improve the efficiency of the use of fertilizers, job opportunities in this sector . The orientation course was inaugurated by Arvind Chaudhary, Managing Director of the FAI, who is also a former Economic Advisor to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India. Experts lectured the students on various aspects related to fertilizers and different dimensions associated with it. A large number of students from the Department of Agriculture participated in this event.

Bhavan’s children shine in karate championship

The third 2022 NKFI National Karate Championship was held at Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra (Haryana). A total of 1,200 students from different schools took part in this championship. No less than 13 students (nine boys and four girls) from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Public School SL were among the participants. They brought laurels to the school with their outstanding performance. Aashima and Hardik won gold, Arsh and Shivam won silver, Armaan, Satyam and Bhakti won bronze medals. The Bhavanites won a total of seven championship medals. President Avinash Mohindru and Senior Director Dr Anita Bhalla congratulated all the winners.

National Sports Day celebrated

National Sports Day was celebrated at SR Government College for Women in Amritsar on August 29, 2022 to commemorate the birthday of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, whose vast contribution on the pitch is a matter of pride for the nation. On this occasion, basketball and kho-kho match-shows were organized by the Department of Physical Education of the College. Students from various departments participated in these matches with great zeal. The principal of the college, Prof. Dr. Daljit Kaur, emphasized the importance of games and sports for the students. She said sport not only contributes to physical health, but also to mental and social health. Members of the college council were present for the occasion.

Leading Teachers in Religious Studies

Tarn Taran: Parminder Singh, Computer Science Teacher at Government Secondary School, Jhamka (Tarn Taran) has passed the fourth semester of MA (Religious Studies) results recently declared by Guru Nanak Dev University. He got 1164 out of 1600 and Raminder Kaur 1144 Marks. /OC
